Things are moving very fast for Fallon Sherrock. At the 2019 World Cup, she already caused a stir by becoming the first woman to ever win a competition. She has since proved that this was by no means a one-off outlier.
Earlier this year, Sherrock defeated Dimitri Van den Bergh and gave Mike De Decker 5-0 in the group stage of the Grand Slam of Darts. Her average of 101.55 was a world record for a woman in a TV tournament.
Sherrock also made history by being the first woman to survive the group stage, but it doesn’t stop there. In the 1/8th finals, Mensur Suljovic, who she had already defeated at the same World Cup in 2019, also had to bow: 10-5.
In that quarterfinal, Sherrock and Peter Wright await an even more difficult customer on paper. The Scot is the world champion of 2020 and the number 2 in the world ranking. Can Sherrock add a new page to the history book?
