A woman from the Romanian city of Craiova received four electricity bills in just one day, totaling about 82,000 lei, or more than 16,500 euros, Digi TV reported.
The woman has a two-room house and says she can’t use that much electricity because she only has a TV, a refrigerator, a water heater and a few light bulbs. All four invoices were issued on October 26, 2021 and have a payment deadline of November 10, 2021, according to the Gazeta de Sud.
“From 2018-2019 I have problems with CEZ. I took them to court and went to ENEL, I got there to pay parallel invoices (…) Now I found myself with invoices for over 80,000 lei. I have a house with two rooms, how much to spend a few light bulbs, a water heater and a TV set, “the woman commented.
She has hired a lawyer and wants to sue the electricity distributor. According to her, the amount is unjustified and it is impossible to pay.
There were a number of reports in the Romanian media about such cases. In September, the website g4media reported that a record electricity bill worth 739,000 lei (nearly 149,314 euros) had been received by the owner of an apartment in the city of Kujir, Alba County, where no one has lived for more than 20 years.
