Infection record in Bergen – over 200 corona infected in one day – NRK Vestland

On Tuesday one week ago, a recommendation was introduced for face masks in Bergen.

Nevertheless, we are now looking at the highest number of infections in the city since the start of the pandemic: 209 new infections in one day.

Infection control chief Marit Voltersvik is now considering whether to implement more, stricter measures in Bergen.

– Unfortunately, very few have used face masks, even though more people use it.

It is recommended to wear a face mask indoors in the public space, where it is not possible to keep distance:

At public transport, shops and malls.

Voltersvik asks the people of Bergen to take the recommendation seriously.

– It is such a simple piece of advice, and it is so effective. I wish everyone put it on, she says.

The chief infection control officer believes that the high infection rates are due to the fact that many more people test themselves than before. It reveals several infected.

– At the same time, we have a much more open society and people are more together. We must accept that we have a greater freedom now.

Many infected people have been vaccinated

She emphasizes that many of those infected have been vaccinated against the virus.

– The vaccine protects in the way that you do not get so sick, if you become infected. But you can still get infected and spread the infection further.

In the last 24 hours, most people aged 20 to 29 are infected. In this age group, there are 41 new infected.

At the same time, there are 40 new infections among children between 6 and 12 years of age.

Furthermore, 15 new infections have been registered among children under the age of five.

The previous infection record in Bergen was Tuesday. At that time, 154 new cases of infection had been registered.

VACCINATED: Many of those infected have been vaccinated against coronavirus.
