From the point of view of the epidemiologist Christian Althaus, an expansion of the mask requirement to indoor areas or a new home office will soon be appropriate in Switzerland. However, more far-reaching measures could no longer be implemented as easily as last year.
If it happens that vaccinated and convalescent people are restricted in their freedom again, then the question arises as to how this can be justified, says Althaus from the University of Bern im Interview with the “NZZ”. “It must not be that the unvaccinated take society hostage.”
It is now important to be more careful in private. «This winter caution is called for. You shouldn’t meet too many people in an unprotected environment, ”warns the epidemiologist.
And he points out that the Epidemics Act allows vaccinations to be made mandatory for certain occupational groups – for example in the care sector. “That is worth checking,” says the expert.
