“It was a necessary ceremony to be able to remember everything that happened. It was a terrible time with all these sick people, these hospitalized victims and these deceased people. We also had to thank all the families who managed to help their patients and all those who helped us like the municipality, the country, the volunteers, the nurses, the doctors… ” explained the taote Philippe Biarez, chief doctor of the hospital of Afareaitu. He adds that “This ceremony was also a moment to send a message of good health since we were all able to work together to cure an illness. This would mean that we could all work together to improve the health of the population. ”
During this day, the taote also recalled that all living forces will be better prepared for a possible next wave of epidemic after the hard tests recently crossed. “We hope that this next wave will not happen. If, however, another phenomenon like this occurs, we will be stronger and more able to defend ourselves. The families too, I hope, will be in better health to be able to resist better ”, he assures us.
