Tangerang: At the ongoing Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2021, Hino revealed the secret of why their commercial vehicle engines are safe from cases overheat.
Engine overheating or engine heat is something that is often experienced by commercial vehicles such as buses. The process of occurrence overheat In general, it will be related to the vehicle’s cooling system that is not functioning properly.
This is often caused by a leak or blockage somewhere in the engine cooling system or other component. Other than that, overheat can also occur when the machine is forced to work beyond the normal limits.

To anticipate overheat, Hino turns out to have a special secret through existence oil gallery on the pistons. “In Hino’s pistons, there is an Oil Gallery. The lubrication hole in the oil gallery functions to cool the piston. Thus, it increases cooling efficiency compared to competitor piston types without an oil gallery,” said Anton from the HMSI Training Division at the Hino booth, Wednesday, November 17, 2021.
Hino test results answer the issue overheat
Hino conducted a test trip using the RK 260 bus unit on the Jakarta-Surabaya-Jakarta route. This test uses the Trans Java toll route with a speed of over 100 km/hour constantly.
In this test, obtained interesting data related to engine oil temperature and coolant water temperature, oil reduction volume, to fuel consumption and engine performance.
“With a little oil, Hino buses can cross the Trans Java route from Jakarta to Surabaya and back with a maximum speed of 130 km/hour,” continued Anton.
The results obtained after taking the round-trip route from Jakarta to Surabaya (about 1,600 km), namely the RK 260 bus engine oil did not decrease at all.
