Maties Torrent asks for restrictions for the unvaccinated

The epidemiologist of the Health Area of Menorca, Maties Torrent, has recognized this Wednesday the concern about the increase in infections on the Island and therefore has asked for specific restrictions for people not vaccinated against covid-19.

“It does not make sense that we now apply restrictive measures for the entire population, we should do it especially for unvaccinated people. It is a group that is different from the rest, because they have decided so themselves since they have had vaccination within their reach and no one has excluded or conditioned them not to do so, “he explained to Efe.

Torrent considers that the unvaccinated population represents “a special risk” at the moment, and has specified some measures that could be considered.

“The restrictions that previously applied to everyone, now to the unvaccinated. Not being able to access certain sites where more people meet and are prone to virus transmission, and even in extreme cases, as they do in other countries, being able to confine them, “he said.

The expert has admitted that these measures are not easy and that in the case of Spain, Thursdays would play a decisive role.

“The judges apply the laws and perhaps some should be changed. If it can be done in other countries and not here, it means that we have a problem to solve. We cannot treat vaccinated people the same as those who are not vaccinated because the latter are endangering the entire community, “he warned.

“Everyone should be vaccinated yes or yes. It is important for each unvaccinated person to be vaccinated, regardless of their job because they are living in a community and we all have to protect ourselves and be more supportive, “he added.
