The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has announced that the third dose of the coronavirus vaccine will be administered to the entire population over 60 years of age, in addition to all health workers, given the increase in the incidence.
Thus, the Vaccine Conference has decided that it is appropriate to start inoculating the third dose to these population segments. The number of cases is taking a dangerous trend in many European countries, with just a month to go before the start of Christmas.
He did so from Ankara, the capital of Turkey, where he had a meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Tayyip Erdogan. At the press conference, the president said: “With all prudence, in relative terms, the incidence is frankly lower than what is happening in other parts of Europe. We have to look at hospital occupancy. Today we are much better than it is. year to address any COVID spike. We have to continue vaccination and co-governance. ”
Now, he has indicated that the decision will have to be ratified now in the Interterritorial Health Council in which the Ministry of Health and the communities are represented: “Now the proposal is going to be taken to the Public Health Commission and we are going to work with the autonomous communities to continue advancing in the protection of these groups.”
This means that the central administration must coordinate with all the autonomous communities to establish a vaccination plan for these people in the fastest and most effective way possible, given the possibility that an escalation of infections forces the establishment of restrictive measures and puts the Christmas campaign in jeopardy.
In this way, the President of the Government has opted to “continue with the vaccination without pause”, at a time when Spain has exceeded 88% of the population over twelve years immunized, well above the average of the countries Europeans.
Finally, the incidence this Wednesday has risen another seven points, reaching 96.12 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, after registration 6,667 new cases in the last 24 hours.
