In contrast to the previous New Year’s Eve, the coming New Year can once again be celebrated en masse on the world-famous Times Square in New York. Interested parties must prove that they have been vaccinated against the corona virus, according to Mayor Bill de Blasio.

Times Square was mostly empty on New Year’s Eve last year. Only a few hundred aid workers and their families were invited as a tribute. Normally, hundreds of thousands of people gather in the square with its huge illuminated signs to ring in the new year.

“We want it to be big, we want it to be full of life, we want a great party,” said De Blasio. Visitors who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons must demonstrate that they have tested negative.
