Prusa Research buys most of Trilab, which manufactures printers for industrial 3D printing

Czech manufacturer of home 3D printers Prusa Research announced an investment in a Hradec Králové company Trilab. It develops 3D printers for business use. Prusa Research bought an 80% stake in the company, but the companies did not disclose the price.

“Both founders Vojtech Tambor a Michal Boháč, and all other members of the Trilab team, remain in the company and will continue to develop it under a separate brand Trilab – A Prusa Research Company, ” writes Prusa Research in a press release.

Pro Josef Průš is an investment next step in the field of home 3D printing. In October, his company also introduced the concept of the automated printing farm Prusa Pro AFS. It consists of 34 printers (in the future, the number of customers should choose according to them) and the control software automatically selects which of them is most suitable for the specified print job. The system also includes a mechanical arm that picks up printed items from the printers.

“In the future, we plan to combine different types of printers – you will be able to combine, for example, 10 larger printers with interchangeable tools, to which you will add 50 standard-sized models,” says the company, which is currently presenting the concept at the Czech stand. at EXPO 2020 in Dubai. The novelty is to be available commercially within the next year.
