New York Mets have offered the vacant GM to Billy Eppler, reports The Athletic.
Eppler, 46, spent five seasons as GM with the Los Angeles Angels between 2015 and 2020, and is responsible for the acquisition of Shohei Ohtani.
If he accepts the job, he would become the Mets’ third general manager in less than a year, after Jared Porter and Zack Scott.
A native of San Diego, Eppler’s experience spans two decades. After joining the Colorado Rockies as a scout in 2000, he was named director of scouting for the New York Yankees in 2004 before being promoted to assistant GM in 2012 until he moved to LA.
