Since the April patch is Cyberpunk 2077 has become a much wetter place thanks to the recently implemented weather system. Much of that weather was rain, which probably made the game look pretty.
However, Night City is not in a place that is expected to get wetter in the future fifty years from now. According to climate researchers, California will be a much drier place in 2077, and that means it won’t rain as much.
And if industrial trends stay as they do now, Night City can expect pollution and toxic rain to remain a major problem.

We’re all no climatologists, so we can’t confirm how realistic the mod’s parameters are, but we can say so much about this mod making Night City a cloudier and more toxic place. After installing the mod, almost a third of your days in Night City will be foggy, while 40% of those will have some sort of pollution. Only 15% of the days are bright and sunny, while 22% of the days it rains.
The vast majority of the weather in Cyberpunk 2077 will be cloudy, foggy, or heavily polluted, with toxic rain far more common than normal rain.
This mod serves as a powerful reminder that climate change exists and will change our world dramatically in just fifty years. Even with the recently completed COP26 deal, nations have basically accepted the fact that the earth will warm by 1.5 degrees no matter what we do, and most of the political scramble at the meeting was just about warming to catastrophic proportions impede. Even so, National Geographic expects places like Hanoi and New Delhi to be hotter than anywhere else in the world – maybe even uninhabitable.
