Airbus has another major order, the first customer to order the A350 in a freight version

Airbus with long-haul cargo enters the segment ruled by Boeing.

European aircraft manufacturer Airbus is entering a new segment, which is still ruled by Boeing. The A350 long-range aircraft will also start producing in the cargo version. At the Dubai Air Show today, it announced its first customer: the leasing company Air Lease Corporation.

Airbus announced the new contract just a day after signing a major contract 255 new A321neo aircraft for Indigo Partners. In Dubai, Airbus is an unrivaled winner in terms of orders.

Airbus has signed a contract with ALC for a total of 111 different aircraft, of which the A350F cargo is attracting the most attention. Airbus has been talking about the development of such an aircraft for several years, it has not yet had a customer for it.

Airbus is entering the air freight market at a time when up to dozens of cargo planes are missing from the market and Boeing is winning new contracts, especially for 777F cargo or the conversion of passenger aircraft to cargo.

In addition to cargo aircraft, ALC today announced orders for 25 A220-300, 55 A321neo, 20 A321XLR and 4 A330neo. In total, there are 111 aircraft, so in Dubai the manufacturer has already signed contracts for 366 aircraft for commercial use.

“We were the first Airbus customers for other model lines and we are sure we did well when we decided to buy the A350F,” said ALC chief Steven F Udvar-Hazy. Airbus sees potential in the market for up to 900 A350F aircraft.
