LTV will host a concert by maestro Raimonds Pauls and opera singer Elīna Garanča “If You Weren’t”

The idea to celebrate the round anniversary on the same stage with the outstanding opera singer Elīna Garanči Maestro came from performing together five years ago. The concert is a dream cherished by both artists, and the binding motif of both parts of the concert is “time”.

“Every song by Raimonds Pauls on Elīna Garanča survives on stage as a dramatically saturated event. Her voice sounds great, the characters she creates are extravagant, her performances are extremely strong. But the most emotional in this concert is the chemistry of Maestro and Elīna’s creative relationship on stage. It will be an unforgettable concert that we can give to our spectators, “admits Ieva Rozentāle, the head of LTV Kultūras broadcasts.

Accompanied by the chamber orchestra “Sinfonietta Rīga”, popular melodies in different moods will be performed in new arrangements by such composers as Lolita Ritmane, Rihards Dubra, Jēkabs Jančevskis and Raimonds Macats.

The first part will feature a series of songs composed especially for Elīna Garanča’s unique voice with the words of Ojārs Vācietis and Vizma Belševica, while the second part of the concert will include songs by Maestro Raimonds Pauls from movies and theater performances in a new sound. The music that had already been made and sounded when Elīna Garanča was born, the music with which she grew up, the music that accompanied her into the world, the music that makes her come back and look at it from a distance.

The director and producer of the concert Ojārs Rubenis says about the stage performance of both artists: “It is a meeting of two geniuses who celebrate their even and odd anniversaries from time to time. It is great that people of two different generations can meet and think alike.”

The anniversary concert of Maestro Raimonds Pauls and opera singer Elīna Garanča’s reunion “If you weren’t here” will be shown on LTV1 channel and Replay.lv platform on November 19 at 9.30 pm.
