In Portugal, bosses are now prohibited from contacting their employees outside of their working hours. A simple WhatsApp message can now be very expensive for the employer: between 613 and 9,600 euros, according to the Publico agency.
Covid-19 requires, the Portuguese Minister of Labor, Ana Mendes Godinho, had drawn the attention of Parliament to the issue of “right to disconnect“teleworkers, particularly in the context of strengthening teleworking.

Henceforth, Portuguese employers no longer have the right to contact their employees outside of their working hours.
