Orange increases fixed internet prices and speeds in Belgium – IT Pro – News

Belgian telecom provider Orange will increase its prices as of January 17, 2022. These are packages that include fixed internet. Packages with fixed internet and television are rising even more. It is about 2 and 3 euros per month respectively. The speed also increases.

Including De Standaard reports that the price increases therefore relate to the Love, Home and Boost subscriptions. Customers who only purchase mobile internet and mobile telephony from Orange will therefore not have to deal with a price increase. The Belgian media report that Orange itself has not yet informed customers, but will do so in the coming weeks.

Orange substantiates the price increases by saying that its wholesale rates, i.e. what the company pays for access to the cable infrastructure, has also increased. This also applies to the prices of modems and decoders, as a result of worldwide chip shortages. Finally, rising energy and labor costs are also a factor.

At the same time, the download speed in the Telenet coverage area is increasing from 100 to 150 mbit per second and the upload rate is increasing from 10 to 15 mbit per second. Subscribers in the VOO coverage area go from 10 to 15mbit download and from 5 to 7.5mbit upload.
