The number of corona infections on Bonaire, where more than 20,000 people live, is increasing. Yesterday there were 156, ten days earlier 105 and a week before 82. For comparison: on Curaçao, with more than 150,000 inhabitants, 100 people are infected, on Sint Maarten (more than 43,000 inhabitants) there are 29.
That is why new measures have been announced. From tomorrow, no more than 25 people may stay in one room on Bonaire at the same time instead of 50. According to Lieutenant Governor Edison Rijna, many people have been infected in recent weeks, especially indoors: at home, at work or at school. They are also urged to work from home as much as possible.
For professional meetings with more than 50 people, an action plan must be submitted. The public at a singing or dancing event must show a corona ticket.
On Bonaire, almost 75 percent of adults have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, 85 percent have had at least one vaccination. 58 percent of 12 to 18-year-olds have been vaccinated at least once.
