The man who died in the heavy collision in the center of Paramaribo on Friday evening died, is 30-year-old Ameer Khemai. Ameer was the driver of the Toyota Noah.
Camera images of the surrounding buildings, which are also below, clearly show that the driver of the Noah van driving over Zwartenhovenbrugstraat in the direction of Henk Arronstraat at high speed, ran a red light while the traffic light on Keizerstraat was green.
The Noah van collided with the Toyota Harrier, causing both vehicles to roll over. There were 6 people in the Toyota van, 2 of whom were trapped. The fire brigade had to provide the necessary assistance.
A co-driver of the Toyota Noah and the 31-year-old driver GM of the Harrier were taken to hospital by ambulance. After Ameer was removed from the vehicle by the fire service, it turned out that he showed no sign of life.
A doctor confirmed death, after which the dead body was confiscated for autopsy. Both vehicles were towed to the salvage for re-inspection. The Center Police Department is investigating the matter further.
