Ecuador prison riots turn into sadistic massacres, 58 prisoners die

QUITO – A total of 58 inmates died in a massive prison riot at the prison in Ecuador which turned into a massacre. The riots were reportedly sparked by a gang rivalry.

Rioting broke out on Friday night (12/11/2021) at the Litoral Penitentiary, a large prison near the city of Guayaquil.

The prison is known to house inmates from the notorious Los Choneros gang with alleged ties to Mexico’s powerful Sinaloa cartel.

The violent clashes sparked conflict between members of different gangs imprisoned at the facility. The prison’s Second Ward, which houses about 700 inmates, has become the center of the bloody chaos.

Unverified videos circulating on the internet allegedly recorded by the inmates themselves show what appears to be the aftermath of the massacre.

Footage shows gang members trying to burn the bodies of their opponents right on the prison grounds.
