Black hole discovered with new technique

Astronomers have discovered a black hole outside the Milky Way Galaxy for the first time using a new technique.

Astronomers have discovered a black hole outside the Milky Way Galaxy for the first time using a new technique. The discovered black hole was found in NGC 1850, a conglomerate of stars in the Large Magellanic Cloud, adjacent to the Milky Way.

According to the research published in the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, the newly discovered black hole is 160,000 light-years away.

Using the Very Large Telescope of the European Southern Observatory (ESO) in Chile, astronomers resorted to a method called MUSE, which is used to identify materials by measuring the properties of light on the electromagnetic spectrum.

According to Euronews, Sebastian Kammann, who is in the team conducting the research, with this technique, is in space. ‘quite crowded’ regions can be monitored.

“There are many black holes in the universe, but we don’t know them because we can’t see them” says astrophysicist Sara Saracino of the University of Liverpool.

Sara Saracino states that they are called ‘black holes’ because they are ‘invisible’ and that even light cannot escape from black holes.

Black holes are very difficult to discover because they absorb even the light around them. Scientists can only learn about the existence of a black hole when it swallows a star or planet next to it.

Black holes are believed to reside in most large galaxies, such as the Milky Way Galaxy.

The effects of mass gravity on light in motion have been one of the most curious subjects of the scientific world since Albert Einstein.
