TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – General Chairman Indonesian Pediatrician Association (IDAI), dr. Piprim Basarah Yanuarso, Sp.A(K) said the importance of education and parental awareness of the disease Diabetes mellitus (DM) or diabetes which can also be suffered by children.
“Governance Diabetes mellitus in children it is difficult. The cheapest and easiest is intervention from the other side, of course there is a role for parents and also the media to educate,” said Piprim in a virtual media briefing regarding the Update on Diabetes Handling in Children and Technology, on Saturday (11/13/2021).
He said the role of parents is important to shape children’s diet.
It is expected that children consume healthy foods that are not high in sugar and high in flour.
“This is cheaper than if later the incidence of Diabetes Mellitus is also a lot of harm,” he added.

In general, Diabetes mellitus DM is divided into two types, namely type 1 DM and type 2 DM.
Often DM is considered an adult disease. However, DM can also occur in children and adolescents, especially type-1 diabetes.
