March through Manhattan to Brooklyn for immigration reform

Immigrants and activists march through the streets of New York demanding that the immigration reform promised by the Democratic party be fulfilled.

The 11-mile march, which began in the morning at the statue of Frederick Douglass located on 110th Street in Harlem and extended to Times Square, will end in the afternoon at Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn.

“11-mile march for 11 million”! #Imigrant workers and their #families march in the rain in #NYC continuing the fight for a path to #citizenship! @SenSchumer, “the NICE organization wrote in a message on social media.

New York is watching! @VP @KamalaHarris

The world is watching! “, The message continues.

The action comes after the current package that is planned to be presented in the Senate – known as ‘Build Back Better’ – would only grant temporary and limited-time employment and immigration benefits to undocumented immigrants.

This leaves dreamers, TPS holders, and farmworkers with no path to green card and eventual citizenship.

“We cannot wait until the last, we have to leave that message to the congress, to the senate that we need a path to citizenship, we never get tired, we are always fighting for the people,” said a protester.

A recent Data for Progress poll revealed that 67 percent of Americans support the regularization of these migrant groups.

“We are going to the BK house (in Brooklyn) of @ SenSchumer”, reads another message on social networks, in this case from the New York Immigration Coalition and where citizenship is also demanded.
