This is because when the eclipse occurs, the sun has not set and the moon has not yet risen on the eastern horizon.
A lunar eclipse occurs when the moon, earth and sun are in the same ecliptic plane and the moon’s surface is covered with the earth’s shadow.

“Because the eclipse cannot be witnessed, there is no sunnah for the people of Aceh to pray khusuf on that day. Only residents from North America to South America, Australia, parts of eastern Indonesia and other East Asian regions can witness it,” said Iqbal, Saturday (11/13/2021).
Head of the Rukyat Mosque and Hisab Section, Alfirdaus Putra, SHI, MH, explained that the process of the lunar eclipse occurred starting at noon at 14:19 WIB.
While the peak of the eclipse occurred at 16:03 WIB and the end of the eclipse phase at 17:47 WIB. So the total eclipse duration is 3 hours and 28 minutes.
“For the Aceh region, all the main phases of the eclipse occur before sunset and the moon rises in the east, so it cannot be witnessed.” he said.
However, the new eclipse phase actually ended at 19:04 WIB.
“The final penumbral phase is the time when the moon is still in the faint shadow or outer shadow of an eclipse process. This phase is a phase that is difficult to see with the naked eye because it does not look different from the usual full moon. Just a little dimmer,” he said.
When added to the penumbral phase, the total duration of the lunar eclipse on November 19, 2021, will reach 8 hours and 1 minute.[KKA]
