Brazil’s footballers qualify for the World Cup

The pendulum in the title fight has apparently turned again. After Verstappen was able to expand the lead in the World Cup to 19 points with his victories in Austin and Mexico, Hamilton gained the upper hand again in São Paulo on Friday. The Englishman in the Mercedes was almost half a second faster than the Dutchman in the decisive third part of the qualification. Hamilton’s team-mate Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez line up on the second row of the grid in the second Red Bull.

However, Hamilton is out of the question for pole position for the Brazilian Grand Prix. The seven-time world champion will, at best, start from position 6 on Sunday after an unauthorized engine change. The swap was carried out beyond the allowed contingent, which resulted in the relocation by five starting places.

Alfa Romeo was able to regain some hope in the battle for 8th place in the constructors’ championship. Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi survived the first part of the qualification for the second time in a row. The Finn and the Italian take the starting positions 14 and 15 respectively in the sprint race. In the team standings, the Zurich racing team is twelve points (11:23) behind Williams.

The sprint race on Saturday evening will be driven over a distance of 100 kilometers, which corresponds to 24 laps on the track in Interlagos. The winner receives three points, the second two, and the third one point. The starting line-up for the fourth from last Grand Prix of the season is created on the basis of the ranking list.
