The archaeological complex of Chan Chan, the largest mud city in America, once again surprised archaeologists with the recent discovery of a grave with bone remains of 25 individuals of the Chimú culture, its ancient inhabitants, who correspond mostly to women who do not exceed 30 years.
Researchers at this archaeological site, located in the northern Peruvian region of Libertad and declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986, documented last October a multiple funerary context in the excavations of the Utzh An or Casa Grande walled complex, in the language chimú.
