BRATISLAVA. Fans of the Slovak national football team will not be seen by fans on public television from next season. For the first time in the era of independence, the fan will have to switch from RTVS to another channel.
AMC Networks International has acquired the rights to national team matches. National football will be at Sport1 and Sport2 stations from next year.
Matej Hajko, Director of the RTVS Sports Section, did not wish to comment on this information. “It simply came to our notice then. The sale of rights is not yet closed, “said Hajko, adding that he is currently bound by secrecy.

The draw will take place on December 16 in Montreux, Switzerland.
Slovakia will take part in League C and will be drawn from the first basket. The qualifying rounds for UEFA EURO 2024 in Germany will take place between March and November 2023 and the playoffs in March 2024, while the qualifying schedules for the other two world tournaments (FIFA World Championship 2026 and UEFA EURO 2028) are not yet final.

As Víťezslav Horák confirmed for Sportnet, Sport1 and Sport2 have exclusive rights and are not yet likely to consider selling sub-licenses for other TV channels.

There will be no hockey national team matches at the RTVS in a few years. Public television owns the rights to only the next two championships.

Broadcast rights from sporting events have become increasingly attractive to private stations in recent years and the price of rights is pushing very high. RTVS cannot compete with them.
