In the Mainz-Kinzig district, several people were suddenly infected with the corona virus. The health department has now become aware of further cases.
Update from Thursday, 11/11/2021, 4:36 p.m .: After three major waves of infection with the coronavirus in Freigericht, Hanau and Steinau, the Office for Health and Hazard Prevention has now received further positive results. At a 2G choir concert in Freigericht near Hanau, there was evidence that 35 people were infected with the corona virus. After an outbreak in a Hanau daycare center, 25 infections have now been detected. 26 residents and 14 employees also tested positive for the corona virus in a nursing home in Steinau.
The seven-day incidence of the Main-Kinzig district thus rises to 216 on Thursday (November 11th, 2021). As the district announced on its website, it is reasonable to assume that “the dynamics of the infection numbers will change little for the time being will”. The Main-Kinzig-Kreis is now promising to increase protective measures, especially for children and young people. In these age groups, the incidence values reach the mark of 300. For this reason, the district has issued recommendations for the care and school sector. “Testing, fixed groups and protection through the increased use of mouth-nose covers are proven to be the most powerful tools to make these areas safer,” said Health Secretary Susanne Simmler.
Corona outbreak at concert: Despite the 2G rule, numerous people infected
First report from Sunday, November 7th, 2021, 2:11 p.m .: Freigericht – Despite strict rules, numerous people were infected with Corona at a concert in Freigericht near Hanau. After the Main-Kinzig-Kreis registered several positive test results, the Office for Health and Hazard Prevention attributed the infections to the event: At least 18 participants and guests appear to be there on Saturday (October 30th, 2021) according to a press release from Main-Kinzig Circle to have infected.
It was a choir concert in the Freigerichthalle with two different choirs. 15 of the infected people are members of the choirs – three other infected people were guests at the concert. The outbreak is particularly surprising given that the concert was an event with the 2G rule. This means that only people who could show proof of recovery or a vaccination certificate were allowed to participate.
Corona outbreak at concert in Freigericht near Hanau: Participants should test themselves
Under these conditions, the risk of infection is usually quite low. Therefore, under the 2G rule, further regulations, such as wearing a medical mouth and nose cover or contact recording, are usually omitted – this was also the case at the concert in Freigericht near Hanau. However, this makes it more difficult to establish contact with the participants of the event.
According to the Office for Health and Hazard Defense, however, it is quite possible that other concert participants were infected through the 18 people affected. Therefore, the Main-Kinzig-Kreis asks all people who were present at the concert on October 30th, 2021 to pay particular attention to cold symptoms. It is also advisable to carry out a corona test to rule out infection.
