On his Twitter account, Instagram manager Adam Mosseri reported that his platform was testing the long-awaited “Take a Break” feature, in order to encourage users to take breaks when they have spent a long time on the application.

Instagram is starting to roll out a new “Take a Break” feature, which will encourage more social media addicts to spend less time in the app. The feature will send you reminders for take a break after 10, 20 or 30 minutes of using the platform.
Instagram says it has worked with third-party experts to get advice on what tips to give users and how to frame taking a break. The notification that will appear will offer you several ways to relax : Take a few deep breaths, write down what you’re thinking, listen to your favorite song, or complete a task on your to-do list.

“Take a Break” is an optional option
This is obviously a optional feature. Once deployed for all, you will need to activate it yourself in the settings. In addition to receiving tips once you activate it, you will also see a window appear, and this one will encourage you to ” take a moment for yourself by closing Instagram ».
The “Take a Break” feature had been expected for several weeks now, Instagram having already announced that it would offer teenagers a break to preserve their sanity. Indeed, the deployment of this option is part of an effort to strengthen digital well-being, which is becoming more and more important at a time when 40% of young children have an account on social networks.
For now, the feature is in the testing phase, meaning it is only available to a handful of users. However, the functionality Take a Break should be more widely available in December, Mosseri said. We do not know if it will be necessary to be a little more patient to see the feature arrive in France.
Testing “Take a Break” ????????
We started testing a new feature called “Take a Break” this week. This opt-in control enables you to receive break reminders in-app after a duration of your choosing.
I’m excited to dig into the results & hopefully launch this sometime in December. ✌???? pic.twitter.com/WdSTjL6ZdH
