Organized by the Lunar Eclipse Sunnah Prayer
This phenomenon occurs twice a year. This year, the first one has happened on January 13, and will appear again on November 29 next.
For Muslims, the eclipse is not an ordinary natural phenomenon because there is an encouragement to perform the lunar eclipse sunnah prayer or commonly called khusuf prayer.
Kusuf sunnah prayer is sunnah ma’akkad. The eclipse prayer procedure is also not much different from praying in general. The difference lies in the longer execution time.
From ‘A’ishah radhiyallahu’ anha, the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said,
“Indeed, the sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of God’s power. This eclipse does not occur due to the death of a person or the birth of a person. If you see it then pray to God, takbirlah, do prayers and give alms.” (HR. Bukhari no. 1044)
