six young people arrested and placed in custody in Dijon

The Dijon public prosecutor announced that six people, including four minors, were arrested in connection with a series of attacks. This violence took place in Quetigny, Chevigny-Saint-Sauveur and Sennecey-lès-Dijon between October 26 and November 3.

This Wednesday, November 10, Olivier Caracotch, prosecutor of the Republic of Dijon, held a press conference to take stock of the so-called “Hooded Gang” affair. He announced that six people were arrested in the Dijon agglomeration and taken into police custody between November 8 and 9.

The alleged perpetrators are between 16 and 20 years old. A judicial investigation was opened for “extortion with organized gang weapons, theft with organized gang weapons, kidnapping and kidnapping”, as detailed Olivier Caracotch.

The two adults who would be part of the group risk life imprisonment. The other four members, all minors, risk 20 years imprisonment. “Regarding the (four) minors, there is an excuse of minority”, explains the prosecutor. All of the alleged perpetrators were brought before a judge on Wednesday.

Reminders of the facts

Between October 26 and November 3, a series of assaults and burglaries took place in the metropolis of Dijon. A home-jacking was first committed in Quetigny. It followed, in Chevigny-Saint-Sauveur, the kidnapping and sequestration for several hours of a young man forced to withdraw money from an ATM with his bank card. Two other men will also be attacked, in Chevigny-Saint-Sauveur and Sennecey-lès-Dijon, ambushed against the background of a romantic encounter, after having been in contact with a young woman on the internet. They too will be robbed, their bank cards stolen and the home of one of them will even be burgled.
