Lawson Craddock receives contract termination for using a bicycle other than EF Education Nippo’s

Lawson Craddock became the second EF-Education Nippo rider to face possible contract termination after being photographed on a non-Cannondale-branded bike. Sergio Higuita received the same letter for using a Specialized bike but he apologized to his team and was not fired.

The American was at a Mellow Jonny event in Texas this weekend, he was pictured riding a Giant bike. He shared these photos on social media before removing the posts.

Although Craddock has signed for Team BikeExchange for next year, the Australian team has yet to announce that Giant will provide their bikes. They are currently under contract with Bianchi and they are expected to announce the agreement with the Giant brand in the coming weeks.

The Cyclingnews website contacted the EF-Education Nippo team who confirmed that they “Treat all runners the same”

Riders are not contractually allowed to use equipment that goes against sponsorship agreements with their contractual teams.
