Expanding support for workers impacted by COVID-19

Deputy Prime Minister Lê Minh Khai signed Decision No. 33 of November 6, 2021, amending some policies to support employees and employers affected by COVID-19.

More than 10.3 million workers have benefited from unemployment insurance.

Employers will receive assistance if they have fully paid social insurance premiums or temporarily suspend contributions to the Pension and Death Fund until the end of January 2021 but are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, this resulting in a reduction of at least 10% in the number of employees participating in social insurance.

Employees will benefit from assistance during the suspension of the performance of the employment contract, the taking of unpaid leave of 15 consecutive days or more, from 1is May 2021 at the end of December 31, 2021 and at the time of beginning to suspend the performance of the employment contract, including unpaid leave, from 1is May 2021 to December 31, 2021.

Children, the elderly or disabled during treatment due to COVID-19 or medical isolation, will also receive additional aid of one million dong for each.

So far, Vietnam Social Insurance has paid out over 24.620 billion VND (over 1.08 million USD) in unemployment insurance benefits to more than 10.37 million employees.

On November 8, Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Vice-Chairperson Truong Thi Ngoc Anh signed a decision on the allocation of a total of VND 15.5 billion to help Hâu Giang provinces. , Trà Vinh, Cà Mau, Vinh Long, Tây Ninh, Soc Trang, Kiên Giang, Tiên Giang, An Giang, Gia Lai, Quang Ngai, Kon Tum, Bên Tre and Bac Liêu in the prevention and control of COVID-19.
