NHL: Erik Cernak was injured, badly hit by a puck. Coach: It doesn’t look good

NEW YORK. Slovak defender Tampa Bay Lightning Erik Černák did not finish Wednesday’s NHL hockey match with Carolina Hurricanes, who lost his team 1: 2 after extra time.

He suffered an upper body injury in the first period when blocking the shot, and according to coach Jon Cooper, he will have a longer break.

During the weakening of Tampa, Černák was attacked by Hurricanes forward Andrej Svečnikov. According to the reaction of the Slovak defender, it seemed that the puck hit him in the left hand.

Right after the unfortunate moment, which happened less than seven minutes before the first siren in a goalless state, he left the locker room and never returned to the match.

Černák managed to play only four minutes and 21 seconds, he scored two points and one shooting attempt.

Coach Cooper did not have a positive report after the match.

“It doesn’t look good. It certainly won’t be assessed on a daily basis,” Cooper told Lightning. He added to nhl.com that he expects Černák to miss several meetings.

The 24-year-old Slovak defender played 12 matches this season, in which he recorded three assists.

In the number of hits (36), the statistics of the two-time Stanley Cup defender are at the top. In third place is the number of shots (29), as well as the average time on the ice in the weakening (3:05 per match).
