The landing of a man on the moon is scheduled for 2025

A manned landing on the lunar surface will be preceded by an unmanned landing, the US space agency announced.

The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) intends to send a man to the moon as part of the program Artemis (Artemis) in 2025, not in 2024 as planned. This was stated by the head of NASA Bill Nelson, informs on Wednesday night, November 10, the press service of the department.

According to Nelson, the mission Artemis-2, which is the first manned mission, is only scheduled to launch in May 2024.

“This probably delayed the first landing until at least 2025,” he said and added that it would be preceded by an unmanned landing on the moon.

Note, the program of landing astronauts on the moon Artemis includes three stages:

  • launch into space using the new Space Launch System of the Orion spacecraft, which is in unmanned mode will make several orbits around the moon and will return back;

  • flying over a natural satellite of the Earth with a crew on board;

  • delivery of astronauts to the moon.

The main task of the program is the safe return of a person to the lunar surface, as well as the construction of a lunar station and preparation of conditions for the possible colonization of an Earth satellite.

As reported, the head of the Ukrainian State Space Agency Volodymyr Taftay said that Ukraine can claim the resources of the moon as part of the international NASA program Artemis.
