The weekly incidence of coronavirus in Germany this Tuesday stood at 213.7 infections per 100,000 inhabitants, the highest level since the pandemic began and double that of last week, with the vaccination campaign stalled and in the midst of discussions about possible solutions to the crisis.
According to the latest data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) of virology, in the last 24 hours there were 21,932 infections, more than double that of the Tuesday of the previous week.
The death toll also doubled from the previous week and reached 169. Hospital pressure has also grown.
67.1% of the population has received the complete schedule of the vaccine and 69.7% at least the first dose.
Discrepancies on measurements
According to a survey by the magazine ‘Der Spiegel’ 42% of Germans consider that the current measures to make in the face of the pandemic are insufficient while 27% consider them exaggerated and 31% consider them adequate.
One of the most discussed topics is the search for ways to increase the pressure on those who refuse to be vaccinated.
On the other hand, the Permanent Commission on Vaccination has not yet recommended that children under 12 years of age be vaccinated and that is not expected to happen before mid-December.
Free trials
The Social Democratic Party (SPD), the Greens and the Liberal Party (FDP) – which are negotiating a coalition agreement to relieve the current incumbent government of Angela Merkel – have drawn up a bill that, among other measures, it would make a return to free tests possible.
The elimination of free tests was done in the hope that this would lead to people getting vaccinated so they could enter restaurants and other places, but the vaccination campaign remains stagnant.
