Musk is likely to sell ten percent of its Tesla stock

The head of the American electric car manufacturer Tesla, Elon Musk, on Saturday called on users on Twitter to vote on whether to sell ten percent of its shares in Tesla. According to the CNBC server, he reacted to the criticism that he did not pay his fair share of taxes. On Sunday evening, users of the social network decided with 57.9 percent of the vote that the richest man in the world of securities should really get rid of it. The question is whether Musk will live up to his word and submit to the will of the voters.

“There’s been a lot of talk lately about unrealized profits being a means of tax avoidance, so I’m proposing to sell ten percent of my Tesla stock. Do you support that?” wrote Musk on his twitter account. He added a voting mechanism to the post, which allows users to choose from “yes” and “no”. He also said that he would follow the vote.

Musk called for a vote in the US Congress to propose taxation of billionaires’ property to help fund President Joe Biden’s social and climate programs. Tesla’s boss has criticized the billionaire tax in earlier posts, Reuters reported.

Musk also pointed out on Twitter that he does not receive any salary. “Only own shares. The only way to pay taxes in person for me is to sell shares, “he added. Musk’s twitter account has about 62.7 million followers.

According to Bloomberg’s billionaire list, Musk is now the richest man in the world with assets worth $ 338 billion, roughly 7.4 trillion crowns. At the end of last year, according to The Wall Street Journal, he owned about 22.4 percent of Tesla’s shares, CNBC points out. Tesla’s market value exceeded one trillion dollars for the first time earlier last week.
