Samušonoks, who started in the weight category up to 86 kilograms, defeated the Turkish wrestler Emri Chichi in a bronze duel with the result 5: 2.
In the first half of the fight, both athletes scored two points each, but in the middle of the second three minutes, Samušonoks pushed the opponent out of the fight and reached 3: 2. In the last seconds of the fight, the Latvian athlete got out of Chitchi’s grip, got behind him and added two more points – 5: 2.
On Saturday, the Latvian wrestler first defeated the Palestinian representative Laita Abušraima in the qualifying fight with 11: 0, but in the second fight 5: 2 defeated another representative of the Middle East from Israel Uri Kalashnikov.
In the quarter-finals, Samushonok defeated Canadian wrestler Hunter Jeffrey Lee 9: 2, but in the semifinals 0: 9 he defeated Iranian athlete Sajad Saberali Golami. Reaching the semi-finals gave Samušonok the opportunity to fight for the bronze medal in the finals of the satisfaction tournament.
It has already been reported that Ramina Mamedova, who started in the weight category up to 59 kilograms, suffered in the women’s competition on Thursday, and Elma Zeidlere, who started in the weight category up to 65 kilograms, both of them took the fifth place.
