Once a year, the army leaves its reserve to meet local businesses in the eastern zone. This year is the 40e Regiment of Transmissions which hosted the meeting evening, initiated by General Alexandre d’Andoque de Sériège, military governor of Metz. The latter delegated to his deputy, General Xavier Culot, the task of introducing the subject. The Esid (Establishment of the Defense Infrastructure Service) then the Armed Forces Commissariat explained how to access the public contracts of the Ministry of Defense.

What opportunities?
With its still substantial heritage and multiple infrastructures, the eastern defense zone offers opportunities for companies looking for new markets. Construction of sheds, technical rooms, rehabilitation of housing or offices, asbestos removal, road works, electricity, heating, pyrotechnic depollution, studies and diagnostics… The list of possible sites is endless, or almost. Day-to-day maintenance, the purchase of supplies and services (upkeep of green spaces, cleaning of premises, laundry, etc.) add to this big cake.

Interested companies
The Entreprendre en Lorraine-Nord association widely relayed the opportunity to attend the evening meeting with the Esid de Metz on its networks. About fifty leaders therefore came to listen on Thursday evening. The army, which proceeds by calls for tenders (available on the site Achat.défense.gouv.fr), insisted on its interest in the local economic fabric. Apart from a few specific markets, providers do not need any specific authorization to apply. The speakers also pointed out that few companies were responding to their requests, which reinforces the opportunities for companies wishing to diversify.

What about payment terms?
Long blacklisted for extended payment terms and the failures of the Chorus software, the ministry claims to have made progress. It advances a release of payments of fourteen days on average after receipt of invoices.
