Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
David De Gea expressing his sadness via social media after Manchester United defeated Manchester City in the Premier League continued at Old Trafford Stadium, Saturday (6/11).
The Spanish international goalkeeper had to work hard to thwart a series of golden opportunities from Man City throughout the match.
Despite his ups and downs, De Gea had to pick up the ball from his net twice. First, through Eric Baily’s own goal and Bernardo Silva’s flick, all of which were created in the first half.
De Gea’s goal first shook when the game was seven minutes through an Eric Bailly own goal. Bailly committed suicide after failing to anticipate Joao Cancelo’s cross from the right.
While Silva scored a surprising goal from a tight angle using Cancelo’s cross which Luke Shaw failed to anticipate. De Gea even looked angry because Shaw was unable to throw the ball which Silva was able to take advantage of.
After the match, De Gea wrote a short message that was quite touching on Twitter. “I’m hurt,” he wrote.
Who Scored noted that in the first half David de Gea made five saves, including an error by Victor Lindelof who almost scored his own goal.
Improved performance was made by Man United’s defense in the second half. There were not many saves made by De Gea in the second half due to the lack of goal opportunities from Man City.
The defeat to Man City made Man Utd have to settle for fifth place in the Premier League standings with 17 points. While The Citizens shot to second place with 23 points.
