The head of the National Reference Laboratory at the National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases, Assoc. Prof. Ivan Ivanov, believes that there should be a complete lockdown in Bulgaria.
“COVID-19 will remain and will pass into a more sparing variant, the disease will pass more easily,” said Assoc. Prof. Ivanov in the show “Offensive with Lubo Ognyanov” on NOVA NEWS.
“Delta plus the option in Bulgaria is the one that is mainly in the UK. There is no danger of it being dominant. We have 13 registered so far. There are no drastic differences in the course of the disease,” said the specialist.
He added that the effectiveness of the Delta Plus vaccines is the same as that of Delta, but no vaccine is 100% effective, even at the third booster dose.
Assoc. Prof. Ivanov informed that a booster dose of Janssen was approved to be administered only two months after the first vaccine.
According to the expert, most cases in younger people are understandable, because a large part of the elderly population has already become ill and the virus is heading in another direction. For him, the risk of returning children to school is not very high.
