The unbeaten Bundesliga team from Freiburg was able to stand up to the overpowering industry leader for half an hour. Then Leon Goretzka put the home team in the lead after a swift combination and the Bavarians visibly overwhelmed the league’s surprise team with their pace. It was only in the final phase and after Janik Haberer’s goal in the 93rd minute that things got tricky again for a brief moment.
In front of 75,000 spectators, Goretzka was not only one of the most conspicuous players in the Allianz Arena at 1-0. The German international failed twice in the second half on the edge of the goal. The preliminary decision was finally made by Robert Lewandowski a quarter of an hour before the end with his 13th goal in the current championship.
BVB inferior in Leipzig
Between Bayern, who with the Bundesliga goals 99 and 100 in the calendar year 2021, came close to the best value of 1. FC Köln from 1977 with the exception of one goal, and Freiburg in 3rd place are now six points. In between, Borussia Dortmund is now four and no longer one point behind Munich. The Dortmund were defeated in the duel of the nominally first Bayern pursuer at RB Leipzig 1: 2.
Christopher Nkunku was with his 1-0 after half an hour and the submission to Yussuf Poulsen’s winning goal after 68 minutes, the match winner for the dominant Leipzig. When it came to the opening goal, the formally strong Frenchman benefited from a brief hesitation on the part of Gregor Kobel when he ran out. At BVB, the failures of Erling Haaland and a handful of other potential regulars made themselves felt before the international break. The interim equalization by Marco Reus was flattering despite an increase in the second half after switching to a back four.
First win for Bielefeld
In the table cellar, Arminia Bielefeld achieved her first win of the season on the eleventh attempt. The team with the Swiss full-back Cédric Brunner and his compatriot Edimilson Fernandes, who came on late, won 1-0 thanks to an early goal from the Japanese Masaya Okugawa at the badly weakened VfB Stuttgart.
So Greuther Fürth and Cedric Itten are the only team in the league to be without a win. The second newcomer besides VfL Bochum, who won 2-0 against Hoffenheim for the fourth time, will face Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday at home.
