Saxony with the highest incidence in Germany

1,193 Covid patients in hospital

As the Saxon Ministry of Social Affairs informs, there are 961 people with Covid-19 in normal wards in the hospitals (as of November 4, 2021, 11:30 a.m.). In addition, 232 patients have to be treated in intensive care units. According to the DIVI intensive care register, 122 patients are ventilated invasively (as of November 6, 2021, 10:05 a.m.). 17 people with Covid 19 disease have died.

Advance warning level reached – currently valid rules

Stricter corona rules have come into force in Saxony since Friday. The reason for this is the achievement of the advance warning level for bed occupancy in the hospitals. According to the ministry, the exposure value of 650 occupied beds in the normal wards has been exceeded. For days, well over 650 patients with Covid-19 have been in the normal wards of the clinics. Some houses have now shut down regular operations and are mainly concentrating on corona patients. Visitor stops are also being introduced.

Advance warning and overload level
In addition to the incidence values, the new protection ordinance provides for a warning level and an overload level due to bed occupancy in the Saxon clinics. The warning level now applies if 650 beds in the normal ward or 180 beds in the intensive care unit are occupied by Covid-19 patients.

The overload level is reached when 1,300 beds in the normal ward or when 420 beds in the intensive care unit are occupied by Covid-19 patients. As with the incidence values, the 5 + 2 rule also applies to bed occupancy.

In the current Corona Protection Ordinance, the “7-day incidence of hospitalizations” is also mentioned as a parameter. However, it is not decisive for the occurrence of the pre-warning and overload level. The “7-day incidence of hospitalizations” describes the number of new admissions of Covid 19 patients to hospitals per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days.

Effect of the pre-warning level:

  • in the private sector: meetings with a maximum ten people the end different households (children under 14 Years as well Vaccinated and Recovered do not count)
  • Meetings in the public area (e.g. Corona demo in Leipzig): only stationary, maximum 1,000 participants (Vaccinated or recovered people count)
  • School: Mask requirement in lessons at secondary schools (from grade 5)

Stricter contact recording is required in various areas. In hospitals, dormitories for the disabled and sheltered workshops, employees now have to be tested twice a week.

Planned 2G rules and home office recommendation

Against this background, Saxony’s state government passed a new corona protection ordinance on Friday. The rules are tightened even further. The ordinance comes into force on November 8th. It provides for a 2G regulation – access only for vaccinated and convalescent people – in indoor catering, at events, in leisure and cultural facilities, clubs and bars. A staggered regulation applies to Christmas markets. Retail and church services are not affected.

Existing exemptions for children and adolescents as well as people who cannot be vaccinated continue to apply. But you need a test. An appeal is made to employers to enable employees to work from home.
