They collect help for those affected by the fire in Sunset Park

The Sunset Park community is coming together to help residents of a building affected by a fire on Wednesday.

The flames, caused by an electrical failure, spread throughout the property, located on 43rd Street, on Fifth Avenue.

Currently, the affected building is under a total eviction order. 34 residents and 2 business premises were affected and at the moment it is unknown if they will be able to return to the building.

This is why the Sunset Park 5th Avenue BID organization started a fundraising campaign through the GoFundMe website to help those affected. Their goal is to raise $ 75,000 that will be distributed among the residents of the building.

For his part, the councilor for the sector, Carlos Menchaca, is also accepting donations of clothing and personal hygiene products for displaced families in his office.

Those interested in helping can take their donations to the Carlos Menchaca district office, located on 45th Street, on 4th Avenue.
