WhatsApp is becoming a true cross-platform messaging service. Users can now connect to the application on PC and tablet, without having their smartphone at hand.
WhatsApp now has more than 2 billion users around the world. The instant messaging platform is accessible on several platforms, but users must always have their smartphone connected to the internet nearby to be able to use the app on a PC.
The subsidiary of the Meta group said several months ago that it was working on a new way to access the service through devices, to allow better use.
For example, we know that users will soon be able to connect to two smartphones simultaneously, a feature called multi-device 2.0.
WhatsApp is now accessible on PC and tablet without a smartphone
But today, we learn from Francis Mahut, associate director and co-founder of Eficiens, that WhatsApp is now accessible on PC in offline mode. In other words, you will no longer need to go through your smartphone to use the service on your computer.
A feature that has been awaited for a very long time, because the use of WhatsApp on a PC until now imposed many constraints: you had to identify yourself via your smartphone and keep it connected to the internet at all times.
In addition to this much easier access, the web version of WhatsApp now benefits from new features: emojis, ephemeral messages, and many others.
Another new way to access WhatsApp: tablet holders (Android and iPad) can now use the messaging service.
An update being deployed
Francis Mahut indicates that the update is being deployed. The Meta subsidiary is making a big step forward for the accessibility of its platform, which should satisfy its billions of users.
Other new features will also land on the application, including business information for WhatsApp Business. This novelty was spotted by WABetaInfo in the latest platform update (2.21.220.27).
