The new tulip field will be built next year on the Phoenixstraat between Molen de Roos and the Bagijnetoren. Frans Geerlink chairman of DelftBloeit says: “We have received permission from the municipality to use the green areas on Phoenixstraat for planting tulip bulbs.”
End Polio Now
Frans Geerlink: “This time we are working together with Rotary Delft-Vermeer. People can buy tulip bulbs and then donate the bulbs for the tulip field. With that they support the End Polio Now campaign. A box with 25 bulbs in it costs €15. €10 of this will go to charity and this amount will be tripled by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. A box of bulbs of €15,- therefore yields about €30,- for the fight against polio”.
The tulip bulbs to beautify the city and support End Polio Now can on this site are being ordered.
Laurentius Praktijkschool also helps
“This time we also want to plant other bulbs. We do this to improve biodiversity. That’s better for insect life. We are very pleased that students from the Laurentius Praktijkschool on the Kappeyne van de Coppellostraat are going to help us plant the bulbs,” Geerlink concludes.
