The agents of the culture of the ministry of Culture are not at all happy with their supervisory ministry and that of the civil service. They expressed their dissatisfaction today at a crisis General Assembly held at the National Museum where many decisions were taken.
Ange Nahonain Martial, General Secretary of the National Union of agents of culture (SYNA-culture) alias “Petit caillou”, during this meeting which recorded the participation of several agents from the interior of the country and the District of Abidjan launched the operation “The Wrath of the Gorilla” to improve the living and working conditions of agents of the culture.
The actions envisaged during this operation are numerous. The SG announced the signing of a collective departure petition of agents which will be filed with the Ministry of the Civil Service on November 30, 2021 at the latest and will be signed by at least 500 people.
The Assembly decided to organize public events throughout the territory for cultural events until December 31, 2021 and a sit-in is planned in front of the UNESCO representation in the first week of December followed by the delivery of a memorandum and the collective departure petition.
The Agents threaten to boycott the 2022 MASA scheduled for March if their living and working conditions do not change.
“If our situation does not change, MASA 2022 will not take place. We will not tell you how we are going to proceed but we have the levers to prevent this MASA because we are the administrators of culture. We are the ones who know where to press to disrupt the system. As we are pushed to the limit if we are in precarious conditions, we will activate these levers so that the MASA does not hold, ”insisted, the SG.
As mentioned, Petit caillou, for almost a year, the agents have undertaken talks with the supervisory ministry in order to improve their living and working conditions through the granting of bonuses, unfortunately, the discussions were unsuccessful.
According to him, at the beginning of the year, precisely in March, the union began a limited strike and this movement coincided with the appointment of a new minister.
