A Good Samaritan rescued two people after their boat caught fire in Islamorada, Florida. According to local reports, the couple was taking their boat on a maiden voyage off Islamorada when it went up in flames.
The boaters were rescued near the Whale Harbor Channel and suffered minor injuries. Coast Guard Islamorada and a commercial rescue team put out the fire before it affected other boats in the area.

“Since the Good Samaritan is rescuing the two people, our greatest concern was to keep the ship from drifting onto other boats in the area and the mangroves,” said Sergeant Second Class Logan Venero, helmsman, Islamorada Station.
The fire enveloped the 26-foot boat and the thick smoke became so strong that police temporarily stopped traffic on the nearby motorway due to poor visibility.
