With a little delay due to the public holiday of this Monday, Sciensano has just updated its epidemiological bulletin concerning the coronavirus in Belgium.
Every day, between October 24 and 30, an average of 7,640 people tested positive for the coronavirus in Belgium, an increase of 37% compared to the previous period. During the same period, 83,115 tests were performed each day. The positivity rate stands at 9.6%, and the reproduction rate at 1.12%, a sign that the epidemic is gaining ground. In total, nearly 1.4 million Belgians have tested positive for the coronavirus since the start of the epidemic.
The number of hospital admissions also continues to increase. Between October 27 and November 2, 151 patients were admitted to hospital each day, an increase of 24%. A total of 1,788 coronavirus patients (+ 36%) are currently hospitalized, including 332 (+ 28%) in intensive care.
The number of deaths is also on the rise. Between October 24 and October 30, an average of 19.7 people died each day, an increase of 34%. Since the start of the pandemic, a total of 26,100 people have died from the virus in our country.
Regarding vaccination, 86% of Belgian adults received at least one dose and 88% were fully vaccinated.
