Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople for the second time during his visit to the United States was admitted to an American hospital for additional medical examinations, writes AP.
The 81-year-old patriarch was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in New York for an angiogram, an examination of blood vessels. Diagnosis will help determine whether a stent is needed. Doctors must decide when the patriarch will undergo heart surgery.
On October 24, at the beginning of his visit to the United States, Patriarch Bartholomew spent the night in a Washington hospital. The next day, however, he felt better and did met with President Joe Biden at the White House.
The visit of the Ecumenical Patriarch to the United States was to end today.
