Manchester City won convincingly over Club Brugge on matchday four of Champions League Group A. The Citizens won 4-1.
City hosted Brugge at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester, England, Thursday (4/11/2021) early morning WIB. The hosts dominated the game.
In the first half, Phil Foden brought City ahead in the 15th minute. However, John Stones had committed suicide, so the score was 1-1 and lasted until the break.
In the second half, City raged and could add three goals. Each through Riyad Mahrez, Raheem Sterling, and Gabriel Jesus. The 4-1 victory lasted until the game broke up.
Joao Cancelo was the star in this match. The Portuguese full-back made a hat-trick of assists which resulted in City’s three goals.
This victory makes City now lead Group A with 9 points, ahead of Paris Saint-Germain (8 points), Club Brugge (3) and RB Leipzig (1).
The course of the match
Since the third minute, City have showered Brugge’s goal with opportunities. After a few tries, the goal came in the 15th minute.
Phil Foden led City to lead 1-0. His trick, using Joao Cancelo’s pass, put the ball into the Brugge goal.
City’s advantage then vanished because of his own error. Two minutes later, John Stones scored an own goal, after failing to stem Brugge’s quick attack. Charles De Ketelaere’s pull bait hit Stones’ body, and into the City goal. The score is 1-1.
After the score returned to a draw, Brugge could match City’s game. Several times the Belgian club spread the opportunity, but it has not produced a goal.
Meanwhile, City are struggling. There is no significant chance of Pep Guardiola’s child being created. The 1-1 score lasted until the break.
In the second half, City appeared more aggressive. The result, three goals can be scored by representatives of the Premier League.
After pressing the Brugge goal since after halftime, City could lead 2-1 in the 54th minute. Riyad Mahrez can continue Joao Cancelo’s crossing into a goal.
City’s second goal was born in the 72nd minute. This time, Raheem Sterling who listed his name on the scoreboard, took advantage of Ilkay Gundogan’s assist.
